We were lucky enough to catch a rather calm day headed out of Oregon Inlet, NC. Our first stop was the 65 degree tower and when we jumped in there was a great variety of life. After not seeing any cobia or grouper around the tower we decided to do several drifts within the vicinity. From the surface I saw a big flash of silver moving fast at around 35-40 feet, I made the drop and saw a school of 8 false albacore, they were the biggest I had ever seen in my life. I through-shafted the lead albacore and prepared for the ride. He took about 30 meters of my reel, and if given the chance I would shoot him again.
