JORGE PAULO LEMANN AND I, FRANCISCO LOFFREDI, WHERE SPEARFISHING IN ST. HELENA ISLAND WHEN HE BROKE THE BLACK JACK WORLD RECORD. I WAS BESIDE HIM DURING THE CATCH AND THIS IS MY ACCOUNT… WE WERE DIVING AGAINST A CLIFF, IN THE SHALLOW UNDER THE WHITE WATER, SEA WAS WINDY AND ROUGHT. LOTS OF FISH SWIMMING UNDER THE WHITE WATER. JP HAD ALREADY SPEARED A BIG BLACK JACK, APROX 9KG SO AT FIRST HE WAS NOT INTERESTED IN ANOTHER BLACK JACK. THERE WAS A SCHOOL OF THEM SWMING AROUND US, POPPING IN AND OUT OF THE WHITE WATER. AT A CERTAIN POINT OF THE DIVE, A BLACK JACK WAY BIGGER THEN THE REST JOINED THE GROUP. JP DOVE OVER THE SCHOOL AND WAS QUICKLY SURROUNDED BY ABOUT 10 JACKS. THE BIG ONE KEPT A DISTANCE, BUT JP UNINTERESTED BEHAVIOR IN THE WATER EVENTUALLY LURED THE BIG JACK TO SHOOTING RANGE. JP LANDED A SOLID SHOT AND RETURNED TO THE SURFACE GIVING THE FISH LINE FROM THE REEL. SHOT FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, THROUGH THE JACKS SPINE, SO THE FISH DID NOT HAVE MUCH STRENGTH TO FIGHT , THE FISH WAS PULLED TO THE SURFACE AND DOMINATED BY JP. NO FLOAT, NO SECOND SHOT.
