As a Co-founder of the Michigan Spearfishing Association a buddy and I went to scout a new area to potentially hold the first ever Michigan spearfishing tournament. My buddy had received a tip that this area held large Sucker and Carp. I knew the record for White Suckers was open and in an attempt to bring more recognition to Spearfishing in the state of Michigan I was searching for a fish over 5 lbs. I made a dive in around 20ft and went aspetto on the gravel bottom, in the middle of a school of small suckers, about 30 seconds into the dive this large fish appear out of a weed bed and I shot it with my homemade 48inch wooden speargun.
