New Year day my son asked me not to wake him up to go diving with me as he was partying all night , I went together with Sherif my boat captain to Alex rock 6 miles from our marina we left about 10:45 in the morning the tide was very good with very little current . about an hour after getting there and shooting a couple of Barracuda's and a pompano i went down towards the rocky bottom and saw this big pompano , I was trying to get closer to spear it when I saw in the back a big African Brown Snapper , though it was a bit far but I was confident that with 60" Wong gun I'm using with 3 bands i should get it , I took a shot and all I could see was the fish turning in the shaft without pulling away towards the rock I knew I most likely snapped the spine and the fish could not fight back, I swam up for some air bringing the fish with me, I swam towards the boat as I was trying to put the fish in the back of the boat Sherif tried to give me a hand so I told him nope I will do it by myself This is a world record ,once we got back to the boating club I asked the harbour master to witness the catch and have it weighed for me, so he did and it turned out to be 10.4KG I also have a video of the complete hunt from spearing the fish until I loaded it on the boat.
