We left early in the morning to go chase YF tuna behind the shrimp boats south of Venice Louisiana. On our way back to the marina, we decided to stop on the near shore rigs to check for Triple Tails, they usually show up on this area this time of year. The water was muddy on the surface with very little visibility down below. I've jumped in the water with my 6' JBL Polespear and during my second dive a nice Triple Tail came right up my face. My polespear hit the fish hard behind the gills, it barely broke through the skin and bent my pole. The fish shot up to the surface and started to float on it's side. I pulled the polespear once again and shot it a second time. I hit the fish on it's head and still didn't penetrate all the way through but it was enough to stone it and I was able to grab it and bring it to the boat.
