We had been diving a spot in southern Crooked Island for 2 days and we had seen a bunch of good sized mutton snapper on the sand at 70-90 feet. We had managed to land a couple that tied the IUSA record of 11pounds, but a record breaker had elluded us so far. On a dive where we had dropped a small chunk of mackerel for chum I managed to get close enough to a large mutton that I got a shot into him with my polespear. The slip tip held and I managed to land the fish using my floatline. Once we got it back to the scale it was 12.5 lbs!
