It was a shiny day, calm sea and the best type of tide I could have desired. My usual companions Fenias and Luis, decided to make the first dive at Baixo Danae reef. I wasn’t happy with the idea, as I believed we had to go north. Unfortunately I was correct, and we caught just few species and nothing special. Later, we decided to go to our second home, Cockburn. Arriving there, the water had 20m+ visibility, and you could see the entire lighthouse structure form the boat. We dived, and I saw a group of Doradas far away, shy to come near. I decided than to start diving in the sand, trying to camouflage myself using the sand as “fog”. After few dives and good catches, I suddenly saw a huge Dorada behind the group. I was impressed with the size. I decided not to shoot at anything else and surfaced. Slowly, I relaxed preparing for a long dive, I wanted that fish. Went down at 15m approximately, and stood still (aspetto). The Douradas where coming and going but I wanted “that one”. She made one single mistake, and came just enough for me to reach out with my 130m Rob Allen gun and soot, PERFECT SHOT! Stoned…
