We were drifting through a cut near a small cay in the Berry Islands. I had anchored there before for the night and it had looked promising. So we all wanted to explore the cut a little. We drifted out the cut and came up on a great section of reef. The outgoing tide was moving us very quickly so I was using a reel with my Headhunter sling. AKA "The Shank". The current took me right up to two nice amberjack that were facing into the current. I quickly picked out the larger and took a shot as the current pushed me past. The shot held and the reel screamed as line payed out. It was a fun fight and the powerful sling and attached reel were an invaluable combo for a fish of this size and current that swift. I got the fish into my hands and pushed the shaft the rest of the way though it. Game over. Louis had the boat right there and I passed his the fish. We immediately pulled up to the closest beach to weight our catch. 37.9 lbs.
