Charlie and I headed offshore to one of his wreck spots and immediately got into the fish. My second or third dive, the cobia came in from behind my left shoulder and checked me out. I relaxed as he started to swim away a bit and let him come in to me. I placed my shot under the pectoral fins, then returned to the surface, giving a little tension to my float line. Charlie was waiting at the surface as my safety. I borrowed his riffe pole spear to place a securing shot through the head, then brained the fish to finish the fight.
