A couple dive buddies invited me on a dive trip to Mexico. We had enjoyed six days straight of spearfishing when we made one last stop before heading home. Joseba surfaced with a big, beautiful Almaco Jack, so I asked if he had seen more. He said there were more, but he had only spotted one big one. I dove below a school of red snappers, and I saw a school of circling jacks in deeper water. I waited until I finally saw a big one, and I was able to place a decent shot, but it wasn't a "kill shot". I surfaced and grabbed the float (was using a break-away rig). I got dragged around for awhile but was able to pull it up to the surface once it got tired.
