Ryan and I like to take advantage of any long weekends I get off of work and that is what we did on the Fourth of July weekend that we found this beautiful fish. We were able find really good visibility despite boat traffic and were specifically hunting for large walleye. Ryan was actually the one who spotted the fish cruising the shallows and told me it had passed by him and was coming my way. Afraid the fish would keep going and I might not see it or have a shot I used a VersaSpear throw flasher to distract the fish so that I could dive and get a shot as I was only using a 6ft pole spear. It worked perfectly throwing the flasher into about 15 ft of water the fish turned to go check it out giving me the opportunity to quietly dive, once I was under I began lining up when the fish noticed me and turned perfectly to check me out going right up to me and my extended pole spear. She gave me the perfect shot right behind her gill plates and my skeeprong slip tip engaged perfectly with a solid hold on the fish. I was ecstatic because one of my main goals of the weekend was to reclaim one of my World Records that has been beaten, and I did it!
