It was a challenging but pleasurable hunt on a wreck I witnessed sink around 10 years ago. I still remember the day, I was up in a tree picking Rambutan when I saw an explosion in the distance. A pleasure yacht had caught fire and sunk, at that moment I knew that the wreck would provide good food for the village for years to come. Fast forward 10 years, my dive buddy had arrived the night before, the boat was hooked up and ready to go, but there was an important task before we departed. One strong black coffee, two cigarettes as I sat on the toilet gazing up at the coconut trees, there was not a breath of wind. It was going to be a good day! After beach launching the boat, our first dive session was fruitful, we already had a good fingermark in the boat, but it was not enough. So we headed to deeper water. My dive buddy had already shot one of our target species, so I just wanted to have look, I laid on the bottom to observe what was once a luxury yacht then the fish just presented itself, so I shot it on its spine, but the slip tip did not engage as it bounced off the bone, so I chased it and shot it again stoned, finish end. I will never take a fish like this again, as a trophy. This strong and beautiful fish will be consumed and celebrated by the rainforest tribe.
