After farting a whole plum in my wetsuit, we sloshed around for 6 hours in the rubber raft until arriving at the last spot of the day with ripping current and variable visibility. I spotted this lady on my own and dove down from behind to not spook her. I got a good 45 degree shot through the head and thought I’d stoned it with my Redtide band gun. I went down to investigate to make sure my slip tip had deployed. It was through, pinning the fish into the sand, but not disconnected off the shaft. I released it from its magnets and started bringing the fish to surface. It woke up and drug me down to the bottom. Joel came by and tossed me a rope. I went down and noosed it around the tail. I brought it up backwards and it again sounded and went to bottom. Luckily bottom was somewhere around 30 feet and I let it take me, holding the tail rope. The tail line was tangled up and I had to dive down a couple more time to yank the fish to surface between getting drug down. I brought the fish to the dingy and tied it off. I messaged my Airbnb host this photo to see if they wanted a whole fresh halibut delivered straight away, since we had been eating the fish for days, to which they replied, “Haha. What?”
