I had speared seveal large yellowtail for a few days, but went in that morning and was doing drops looking around. Vis was decent with a medium current. I saw this fish off swimming along a grass edge at the bottom and took the shot. After surfacing and getting dragged, I cinched up on my foat line quickly to drown it going backwards. Grabbed by the gills and brained it (over and over) bringing it to the boat. here is my account of the weighing and a 2nd account, as required by IUSA rules when the weighing is on a boat: Statement #1: Seas were very calm and still in a bay-like area were weighing was done -with no movement of scale. Lisa Ferrier 949-282-3339 statement #2: From: jose ignacio gualito romero Date: December 6, 2025 at 4:14:12 PM PST To: Lisa Ferrier Subject: Día de buceo The weighing of Lisa’s yellowtail that was done on the boat had no change because the water was very flat and no change in scale because no bouncing.
