Hunting for Mackinaw is a different experience as they are so predatory compared to some other freshwater species. This is why we were hunting with VersaSpear throw flashers. I threw a flasher and watched it as it spiraled down and dove after it just as it passed by a large boulder I perched on the boulder above where my flasher landed and had another flasher in hand gently waving it to mimic a struggling small fish. It didn’t take long for the trout to come in hot obviously focused in on the flasher in my hand. When the fish noticed I was behind the flasher it turned to check me out giving me the perfect opportunity to shoot. It was a solid shot but I still brought it in slow knowing how soft the meat is on trout. I easily brought it in and dispatched it and started hollering to my husband and dive partner Ryan to come and check it out and get some go pro footage of me and my personal best Lake Trout. Also shout out to my good friend Emily, I know this just barely passes yours and have no doubt we will both be shooting larger soon ;).
