Not many King Threadfin Salmon have been caught on spear because they are usually found in water too dirty to dive in. This is the first time a female has ever speared one. So to swim around a bombie and see one, let alone spear it, was a bucket list moment. As I crept around the bombie, I saw a school of painted sweetlips and an odd looking elongated fish swimming with them. I took me a second to ID the salmon as I had never seen one under water before. Once I realised what it was I lined it up, waited for the sweetlip to move out of the firing line and took the shot. Once I surfaced I was hysterically giggling as a I was so stoked to just see one of these fish underwater, let alone spear one.
