I took my dog Lily up to a local reservoir known for large carp and enjoyed two days of solitude while camping near the water. I decided to sneak in one last dive before heading home. On the swim back after diving ledges looking catfish, I noticed a large shadow just outside of the ~9 ft viz and tried to coax it closer with a flasher. It worked, I took the shot and that fish took me for a ride! This is the largest fish I've shot and it was a blast trying to get it under control. It was thrashing so much, I ended up swimming it back to shore holding it securely on the spear. What a great weekend. Thank you to Shelby Peterson and the rest of the VersaSpear crew for all of the advice and mentorship as I learn more about this addicting sport!
