I have been trying to beat my own carp record for years and so I’ve been extra cautious to keep an eye out for large carp. We went to the same reservoir where I shot my standing record in 2017 and so I was hoping to find another bigger fish. May is still very early season for Utah so we were not seeing many fish at all. That being said when I saw this carp swim out from the shallows to come check me out I was excited because I knew it was big. The carp was very curious and an easy solid shallow shot and I knew it would be really close in weight to the one I shot it 2017. I was stoked to see it beat that record by more than a pound so I could submit it and make the record a bit harder to beat.
