My husband and I often enjoy hunting for sheepshead together along the Outer Banks. We spotted a good weather window and managed to launch a quick strike mission to some structure just outside the inlet. The water clarity left a lot to be desired, but I dove to about 40 feet and hovered near the murky bottom. Visibility was 3-4 feet. I scanned the haze until a faint glint caught my eye. A school of sheepshead moved into view, and I watched closely until one appeared that clearly outclassed the rest. I took my shot and secured the fish just before it could wrap around the base of the structure. When I surfaced, my husband saw it and immediately knew I had something special. It all happened so quickly, but it felt like the payoff for a lot of time in the water and steady practice.
