I shot the fish on a wreck. After an unsuccessful coastal mission looking for Barramundi in dirty water we headed offshore to some known wrecks. The first wreck was a flop with dirty water making it impossible to see our target species. We then decided to head further offshore to another wreck. We were greeted with green but clean water. We shifted our target species to Trevally as we had been chatting about all the ways to make this less desirable species taste amazing. It wasn't long until my dive buddy Jono shot a nice Diamond Trevally. It fought hard until it was dispatched. Feeling relaxed I took a deep breath and descended to 18 metres. Hovering just above the wreck I grunted a few times and was greeted by some Golden Trevally. I then loaded my pole and extended, waiting patiently. At this moment a very handsome Diamond Trevally appeared out of the murk and was swimming straight towards me. It deviated its course and I readjusted my aim and let my pole spear go on its journey. It abruptly stopped in the skull of this beautiful fish. I stoned it! Huge relief and a squeal from my dive buddy up above me. A great memory and meal to share.
