It was a day I’ll never forget. It was my 41th birthday and a trip to La Paz Mexico with my twins Lucca and Valentino. My dad and my friend Pepe planned a spearfishing trip to the pacific side Pepe told me he spotted a couple of broomtails and pargos at a few spots he knows so we went out on a beautiful morning no wind and good visibility, the sun was rising we where looking forward to have a good fishing day. I knew the luck was on my side I felt it all the time then on our fist dive my dad speared a great rooster fish arround 40 pounds and I already thought it was a good day for us We spotted a school of snooks a day before and i shoot a nice 40 pounder, but we saw alot of them on bigger size so Pepe told to take my time to find a really big one. I took a dive in 30ft and wait for 10 seconds then i saw the first one coming 20-25pounds, i wait and then a big school of big ones came to me, i look at them, they where amazing so i didn't hesitate and shot the biggest one but I had the safe on my gun so I had to take it off and shoot it again luckily I got it. He pull me like the beast he was I knew he was a big boy but as closer I got to him I started to realized he was the biggest boy of the school he belong to, once i put it in the boat, Pepe told me that could be a WR. I will always be grateful for This gift the ocean gave to me. And specially thankful for living this beside my dad Valentin and my great friend and spearfishing mentor Pepe Urbalejo from Baja Azul.
