I heard stories of people spearfishing massive bluefin tuna in Türkiye and I decided to go and explore this area with my team. We were amazed with what we found. Every day at sunrise we found bluefin tuna of various sizes, the majority from 80kg to 150kg and once a while a bigger one of over 200kg. For one week we saw them every morning at sunrise and we didn’t shoot or disturb them so that they would become confident with people in the water. At the end they were swimming up close to the surface That day finally this very big one came up from the depths and I knew it was a potential world record So the next time this massive tuna swam below me, I took a shot from above. The spear hit the spine of the tuna immobilizing it instantly. The tuna’s body was barely shaking while trying to swim but all it did was hit the surface. I quickly brained the tuna with my knife on the surface and proceeded to lasso the tail. An amazing catch and a day we will all remember forever.
