In a very calm water day, sea temperature warm, 24.5 celsius we stopped at the first FAD 43 miles from Barra da Tijuca coast with Santiago on the Water and Guilherme on the boat, we started spearing good fishes, 18kg +, i knew it was going to be a good day. After almost 40 minutes fishing on the FAD we caught about 9 fishes so we diced to go to another one, this time 39 miles from the coast. On my first dive, i saw coming right to my face a HUGE male, i kept calm, i knew on the first second that was a lifetime fish so i did not lost focus, i was with two spearguns, one on each hand, the fish came almost 2 meters from me so i took the first shot, a perfect shot but the spear didn’t cross the hole fish, so i took a second safety shoot on the fish, this time the spear crossed the fish, but my dyneema got stuck on the speargun rubber so i had to let go the gun because it came out only few meters on line. After letting the gun with the fish, I kept the first gun and start screaming to Guilherme to come with the boat to give me a other gun, this time a Picasso 1,30m, he already gave me a loaded gun, so i took the shot really fast, this time everything like it should be, so i could start to breathe again knowing that the fish wasn’t going anywhere. After the 3 shots, i came close to the boat and me and Guilherme lifted the fish to the boat. After that was only celebration, i knew it was a world record, the fish was gigantic. Em um dia de mar calmo e água quente, 24,5 graus, paramos no primeiro atrator a 43 milhas da costa da Barra da Tijuca. Entrei na água com o Santiago e Guilherme ficou pilotando o barco e logo de cara matamos peixes de 18kg+, eu sabia então que seria um bom dia, ficamos cerca de 40 minutos pescando e após embarcar 9 peixes decidimos ir para outro atrator, dessa vez 39 milhas da costa. Na primeira caída, dei de cara com um macho enorme, no primeiro segundo que olhei ele sabia que era o peixe de uma vida toda, então mantive o foco, deixei ele se aproximar 2m da minha frente e dei o primeiro tiro, foi um tiro certeiro, o peixe ficou praticamente apagado, porém a seta não atravessou completamente a cabeça do peixe e como sempre caio com duas armas, dei logo o segundo tiro para garantir. Dessa vez o tiro atravessou por completo o peixe porém a dyneema enroscou na borracha do Arbalete e não deixou a linha correr para o peixe se afastar de mim, foi ai que tive que pensar rápido e larguei a segunda arma, mantendo a primeira firme segurando o peixe. Assim que larguei a arma já botei a cabeça para fora da água e gritei para o Guilherme no barco me jogar uma terceira arma, dessa vez uma picasso 1,30m que atravessou por completo o peixe e pude respirar sabendo que esse peixe não iria a lugar algum. Após os tiros, subi no barco, ajudei o Guilherme a embarcar o peixe e depois foi comemoração o dia todo, sabia na hora que esse peixe seria o novo recorde mundial.
