I don’t normally spear chum salmon as they’re not great to eat when compared to coho and king, that said I needed good bait for bottom fishing later that day. Made a few drops and spotted a school of chum in roughly 20ft of water. Followed the school for 5 meters or so when I saw this bruiser turn towards me. I choked up on my evolve pole spear and made a solid holding shot as it began to spook. The fish spazzed out as most salmon do when shot, and smoked my forehead a few times before I could get a hold of it for a quick and ethical kill.
