I caught this fish on my birthday, breaking my own previous Silver Salmon world record for polespear. I was swimming in a saltwater lagoon as the tide was rising and sun was setting. That evening, I had been diving and found a weed pipe at the bottom of the ocean. I brought it up to the beach and an elder came by to ask if he could take a look at it. I gave it to him and a few minutes later saw him in a car trying to light a nug. One woman's marine debris is another man's treasure. This fish was shot on a 13 foot Red Tide carbon fiber roller pole spear with a magnetic and fabric slip tip. I am not very good at spearing fish, as my aim is rather terrible. A headshot on a salmon is a 1/10 for me. This was no exception as it hit right in the babymaker. She was full of delicious eggs. I had to pin the fish to the ocean floor and grab on either side of the head before bringing it to surface because my poor shot placement was a recipe for loss.
