It was late in the day around 3pm and I was headed to scales to weigh in my fish at the Louisiana State Freedive Championship and I had a few more spots to check out. I was looking under some small structures that are used by the oil and gas companies the visibility was only about 5ft and the depth was only about 12ft. As soon as I broke the surface I spotted the fish and shot immediately the fish was only about 5ft under the water. When I got the fish in the boat I knew it was a real nice one I shot several tripletail over 30 pounds this one looked no different, but when it hit the scale I could not believe it broke 40 pounds I have been trying to get a 40 pounder for years. I did very well in the competition and won the King Skin Diver award.
