We were checking out our new dive spot in the ocean where we had seen some monster sheepshead a few days prior. My dive buddy dropped me in over the spot and I dove about 40ft down, and that is where I saw a big school of sheepshead swim by. I secured one with my polespear and brought it to the surface, but thought it was too small to be the record. After a few more drops and passing on some smaller fish, I finally saw a much larger shadow in the murky visibility. I let my polespear fly, hitting the fish, mid-body, and hauled it to the surface. At that point, I knew that I had a potential contender for the record. The first fish I shot was 10.7lb and the second sheepshead weighed 12.5lb! I would like to thank my dive buddy for putting me on the fish.
