This was the first time I went on a spearfishing journey for trout. I went with my two sons that day and they have had good success with the lake where we were headed. I swam around the left side of the lake with one of my boys while the other one went right. I was swimming on the surface scanning the bottom on a nice drop off into the deep while my younger son was in the shallows. I noticed the fish cruising along the bottom when I started my dive. I got in range and decided it was time to pull the trigger, the fish was not spooked yet. Boom, I stoned him perfectly with the shaft only sticking in half an inch. I dove down, grabbed the twitching fish and swam back to the surface. As I lift the fish up to show my son, not thinking it was too big, he says "Dad you just shot a world record!".
