It was the second day of Red Snapper season 2021. We went out the day earlier with some success but, saw no stud fish. Day two, things were off to a rocky start as a big shark chomped and ate a nice fish I landed on my pole spear. Still determined we changed spots. The current was ripping and so our drops had to be carefully timed, luckily the vis was pretty good. As soon as I see the school of snapper from the surface, I dive down, hover at 20 ft and pick out and stalk the largest one. I spear it with my Nomad, wrestle it to the surface and swim towards the boat to celebrate with my crew. Thank you to my host and Captain Judah Clark, as well as my dive buddies Christine Vartiainen, Tom Stowe and our support dog Kimber.
