I was out in the blue teaching my daughter how to spearfish. As we swam out to the drop off, she pointed to the fish I had just spotted eating what looked like another fish- deep beneath us. I quietly dropped and spined it perfectly. It was a bit tough to grab gills with sharp teeth and the barred fins extended, as it was still thrashing hard. Got control and carefully brained it- but the spines poked my snorkel- swimming back breathing above water periodically. I realized it was huge once getting it to the surface and swam it in to shore!! Fun in the blue..... as always!!
