I was spearfishing approximately 2km away from shore with my safety buddy. I spotted some spooky dentexes from the surface at the tip of the reef. I made my dive to that spot (-18m), but the dentexes were not there. I began to descent to the deeper rocks, I saw the big goldblotch over a cave (-23m), I closed the distance between us as much as possible, I made a midline shot with by 110cm wooden double-rubber banded speargun from 4m, I began to ascent without opening the reel in order not to let the fish get in into the cave. When I surfaced I pulled the line and grabbed the fish. It was a -23m/1:30min dive with a hunt of approximately 8kg of a goldblotch. When I was back to my office, I measured and weighed the fish, and decided to apply for a world record.
