Out in the Pacific, just out of Cabo, we were doing a Reef tour with two other divers, out of nowhere I see this huge cubera snapper laying down in the sand, the current was very strong and I lost sight of it for a while. I swam over to some rocks and I saw part of it from the top, it was lock between two big rocks. I had my pole spear and I knew I could get a good shot if got it inside the cave, I went down and I saw he was moving inside, I waited until I had good angle and shot it right being the gill plate. I knew right away I had a good anchor shot, it was just a matter of getting it out of the whole, I didn’t want to let go of my pole spear because I was afraid it would crack it inside the whole. I was able to get it out of the cave and pull it to the surface, it fought for a while until I could grave it and call the boat over. Once I had a hold of it I realized how big it was and that It could be a word record, when the boat came over I jumped on the boat and pulled it into the boat by myself.
