My dad had recently moved to a new area and mentioned how clear the local lake was. The next time I went to visit him I made sure to bring my gear. When I pulled into the lake marina I was blown away by the beauty of the lake and the water quality, especially for a central Texas lake. I quickly grabbed my gun and a couple masks for my dad and me and headed down to the bank. I swam out to a ledge and after a couple drops I found it was stacked with drum. I worked the ledge for a while not really finding anything I felt like shooting, till I ran into some telltale clouds of silt. Before I even saw the fish myself I heard my dad yelling through his snorkel at the surface. That’s when she crossed in front of me. She rolled with the shot and as I swam closer to picker her up I started to realize how big of a fish I had just speared. My dad and I were both stoked and she ended up making an awesome fish rib curry!
