When we hopped into rig number 2 of the day, the water visibility was tough. We had about 15 feet of hazy green that turned into murk then opened up around 40 feet to clean green water. With my polespear in hand, I made a drop down to 40 feet and saw the big guy I was looking for. I lined up my shot, but he started swimming away. I did not want to take a chance at shooting him from a distance, so I took a glance to my left to see if any other good size reds were around. And there she was, broadside and close. I took the shot and it landed! The snapper tried to swim around the cross pipe, but I pulled her out before making my ascent. Surfacing, I yelled at Kyle exasperated, “I GOT ONE AND IT”S BIG!” I got her to the surface, gills in hands then Kyle and I screamed together out of excitement knowing it was another world record.
