I was conducting a shore dive during a spearfishing holiday in the Azores on Flores Island. It was a solo dive. I found a cave in 50 ft of water, the cave extended approx. 25ft, at the back of the cave in a crevice I encountered the conger ell and shot it in the head. I could not find a certified scale on the Island and so used a hand scale that I had, checking its accuracy against 2 x .5kilo dive weights. This is a small example of a conger eel, but from what I can see, no one has submitted one previously.
