Fred dropped Rochele and myself up current from the point. We drifted down about 100m and then we started to see the start of a school of Kingfish coming up from the deep. I breathed up and dived down about 10m and just waited. I was trying a new pole spear out, a 10foot Maverick so the fish had to be close. As the school swam past I just waited, then one of the larger ones in the school got closer, I gave a couple of hard kicks towards it and let rip. It was a good shot with the pole going right through. The fight started off a bit tame, but after about 30 seconds it woke up and then the fight was on. After 15mins I had my hand in its gills and was able to Iki it and waved Fred over and passed the fish to him so we could put it on ice. The Next day when we weighed it we where stoked to see that it was over 30kg.
