On the 18th of February 2018, myself captain Lucas ponzoa and friend Geno headed out of marathon into the gulf early in the morning towards the "p tower". We arrived at the tower and after no luck fishing I put on my freediving gear and put together my 9ft riffe polespear with a float and bungee line. I then jumped in close to the tower and was suddenly surrounded by big cobia I called for captain Lucas to get into the water, as they swam my way I loaded my polespear to the tip and met the fish around 10 ft down. Trying to get as close as I could to the biggest fish in the school I took the shot and hit the fish in the spine which paralyzed him and he didn't put up that much of a fight as I wrestled to get him in my hands and noticed Lucas had been in the water . After about 10 seconds of the fish twitching around on the slip tip of the pole spear I secured the fish by the gills and made my way to the boat which was driven by Geno (friend) at the time. I then jumped onto the motor platform on the back of the sea vee and got a breather then threw the fish into the deck of the boat. After the high five'ing and bragging about the fish I jumped back into the water with Lucas ponzoa and continued to shoot a few more fish then took some pictures and made our way back to the dock.
